Paul Scholes
Only saw second half today and cannot think of one time he lost the ball and just as important, put a team mate in trouble.

Thank fook he is back. Always thought he had at least another year in him.
Doesn't say much for the young players coming through though bringing him back like they did

One week all the talk is about clearing out the squad blah blah blah the next its bring back Scholes. fook off. Feckin chancer retired (threw his toys out) in 2004 so he shouldn't get a look in now IMO.

Re: Paul Scholes
He didnt want to be playing left midfield, even McLeish wouldnt be silly enough to play him there. Great player

Football is a now thing.Doesn't matter if the best players available are 18 or 38, pick the players that give you the best chance of winning something. The European Championships is a massive tournament and we're there. As Denmark in ,92 and the Greeks showed in 2004 if you're in it you can win it.

Think we should be giving the England players of the future some much needed experience, giving them that now could make all the difference in the next World Cup and beyond.

Re: Paul Scholes
I don't buy into that argument.By the time the World cup comes around the players that the press are currently raving about may be well out of form.Everything was geared to Wilshire this summer and he has ended up missing the whole season through injury something which is always a possibility.By all means use the friendlies to experiment but when it comes to teh big games then it should be the best available.Whether they have 80 or 10 caps is irrelevant. At this moment in time i can't see any players better than Gerrard and Cole in their positions, should we leave them out because we're looking at a World cup which is two years away and we've not yet qualified for?

Agree with this, but not with the thought of Gerrard playing to be honest, think we are better of playing Parker and Barry, then Rooney in a free role where Gerrard would normally play, then play the striker and two wingers that are in form. I guess Gerrard could play in the center with Parker but think Barry is more suited, or Scholes.

Re: Paul Scholes
Not just their age tbh, we seem to get through the qualifying games without the ferdinands Lampards and Gerrards as they always have a niggly injury when it comes to playing for England during the season when they have an important Premierleague game 4 days later. But they always get to play in the tournaments where they constantly let us down, struggle to get out of even easy groups and never get further then the 2nd round/QF at best, they don't deserve to play, time for a strong manager to come in and say 'you don't want to play for your country in the season and when you do you don't perform anywhere near your club level, time to move on'.

Re: Paul Scholes
I'd rather have Paul Scholes facing a Spanish midfield than some 18 year old kid with barely a season of Premier League football behind him.

Re: Paul Scholes
Who says they have to be 18 Jesus, I'm thinking more the Milners of this world who are dam good players and experienced but who get left out of all these major competitions for a slow Lampard who won't bother turning up.

Re: Paul Scholes
Oh yes, Milner is a dead cert for me. Him and Parker playing in the middle with a Scholes like (not necessarily him) player just ahead of them and two wingers (Young and Johnson for me, delivery of a cross for me is more important than skinning your full back just to aimlessly smack the ball into the box) with Rooney up top. Pacey types like Walcott, Chamberlain, Agbonlahor, Bent etc.. are probably best coming off the bench against tired legs.

Re: Paul Scholes
Agree on the wingers, and I'd probably start with Welbeck up front with Rooney, Bent is also an option as his finishing can't be questioned its just the rest of his game and work rate that might be amiss. Defoe also vying with Bent there and Gabby is very much a back up player or impact sub as he can play on the wings as well as up front.
