About his suicide
How he´d kick it in the head
When he was 25
Speed jive don´t want to stay alive
when you´re 25
And Wendy´s stealing clothes
From Marks and Sparks
and Freddie's got Spots
From ripping off the stars
From his Face
Funky little boat race

Just heard that on a 70´s compo CD I bought a few months back

They don´t write songs like that anymore!!!

David Bowie originally offered Mott The Hoople "Suffragette City" but Ian Hunter turned it down on grounds it was "Crap" he, Hunter that is, once told me.

Suffragette City is held by some as being the first ever punk rock song!!

One of the best concerts I´ve ever seen was Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson RIP at B´ham Odeon

What a combo - one of the best voices and one of the best guitarists ever

What I like about Bowie is that not only was he completely original, wrote amazing lyrics and music but was also a great performer. Often there is something missing, a band can write great lyrics and music and even perform well but will be unoriginal. Bowie had the lot.
