Which club?
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr al-Qassimi, member of a ruling family in the United Arab Emirates, has bought a majority stake in an unnamed Premier League club.
Sheikh Ahmed, a member of the ruling family Ras al-Khaimah, will be honorary chairman of the club.
Ras al-Khaimah is one of seven members in the UAE federation which also includes key oil producer Abu Dhabi and regional trade and tourism hub Dubai. (WAM news agency)

There seems to be a theory around a Midlands club, I was reading today. Also Everton. I don't THINK it's West Ham, althought there's a separate persistent rumour that there will be a Good News Announcement concerning the Hammers this week. Basically, there's nothing else to write about till the transfer window opens, is there?

Re: Which club?
It could be one of many as you say. Kenwright at Everton has made no secret of his willingness to sell, Pompey are at the point of going belly-up, the noses were up for sale 18 months ago and the Icelandic bank will want to liquidate their asset.
I hope it's not West Ham. Can you imagine Ringo's whingeing at the announcement that Muslim people were buying he club!

Ringo will whinge at anything and needs to realise it's not 1963 any more......
The sad reality is, it's highly likely to be foreign money coming in, just as it was Icelandic owners before - only a fool would say it's an ideal stuation being administered by a selection of foreign banks. I can't see a UK buyer coming forward for any club, can you?

Re: Which club?
When they told Eric Morecambe's 3 year old grand daughter that he'd died, she said "Does that mean there won't be any more magic?" How's that for an epitaph?

The innocence of those days
They could do sketches with two men in pyjamas sharing a double bed - and no one would make any Matthew Upson remarks

That two-men-in-a-bed scenario was frequent, I remember Tony Hancock and Sid James doing likewise in sketches. Nobody would've suggested Sid James was a woofter, that's for sure !

Re: Which club?
There was one of those retrospective comedy compilations on TV at Christmas. Eric Morcambe walked to their bedroom window and looked out just as a siren sounded outside. He said "Well, he won't sell many icecreams going at THAT speed, will he?" Had me giggling for the rest of the evening.
