We've signed a former Real Madrid scout!?
Former Real Madrid & Newcastle Scout To Villa?
The People today have announced that Gerard Houllier is hiring former Newcastle United scout Jeff Vetere to the Villa ranks.
Vetere was part of the 'Cockney Mafia` which went down like a lead balloon on the Toon but isn`t all bad judging by info pulled up by Vital member he`sbiggerthanmeandyou.
He`s worked at Charlton, West Ham and Real Madrid. Be interesting to know which gems he uncovered for Newcastle United wouldn`t it?

He was a mixed bag. Bought Parker to the club, but also bought Boa Morte. You can probably find a list on the internet - ignore the eyeties we signed though, that was all Nani.

From Wiki:
Midfielders Scott Parker (£7m), Keiron Dyer (£6m) and Nolberto Solano (free) all arrived from Newcastle United, wingers Julien Faubert (£6m) and Freddie Ljungberg (£2m) were signed from French club Bordeaux and London rivals Arsenal respectively, Craig Bellamy (£7.5m) and Richard Wright (free) both made the switch from Merseyside to East London , signing from Liverpool and Everton. Striker Henri Camara completed Curbishley's squad, signing on a season long loan from Wigan Athletic.[78]
The 2007-2008 season proved to be one of consolidation for the Hammers. They moved into 10th position in the table during the Christmas period and remained there until the end of the season. A season of disappointing performances (including a run of three consecutive 4-0 losses) and long injury lists has been punctuated by a solid showing in the League Cup (losing in the quarter final to Everton) and some excellent results - a five goal win away at Derby and home wins against title-chasing Manchester United and Liverpool.

Like I said, hit and miss. And not much from overseas, which seems to be something you Villa fans held against MON.

Well when MON left, forgot who said this but a statement was that Villa had next to nothing in terms of international scouting.
Thankfully, GH does know alot about footy overseas so maybe he can pick out someone who can improve our team vastly.
But his transfer record is a bit hit and miss too - but it seems to work for him.
