I remember Beckham doing a similar thing when he broke his ribs in a qualifying game.

Don't think he got banned - but the dopey twat came out after the game and said he was purposely booked. UEFA won't be able to prove Ramos and Alonso did.

It's all a bit pathetic really. There's a loophole in the rules, so smart-arses will take advantage of it. And there ain't any smarter arses than The Special One. It's a long, long time since the days of sportsmanship - we can't complain too much if players are happy to be sent off the field of play to gain an advantage.
