Re: Darren Bent
Massive blow. Only good thing is Gabby can play up front now in his best position, where he has played his best football

Would you take a 15th place finish now your only proven goalscorer is out?

Re: Darren Bent
Gabby can score goals.
If were revert to a 4-5-1 formation, with Ireland and N'Zogbia included - it could work.
Hopefully AM goes with;
-----------Given--------------
Hutton Collins Cuéllar Warnock
Albrighton Gardner Petrov N'Zogbia
----|------Ireland-----------|-
----V----Agbonlahor---------V-
Plus we've got Chris Herd coming back to full fitness, and with Bannan on the bench to come on if we need more creativity. If worse comes to worst, the utility man that is Heskey can play anywhere.

I don't know what you're worried about. With a manager who plays every game for a 0-0, just play with two goalkeepers. Problem solved, feck all that attacking business.

Nope, I am probably the only one but I think it will improve the football that we play. This season we played our best football without Bent in the team. I'm not saying I wanted him to get injured, just until I saw Darren Bent play for Villa, I thought all a striker needed to do was score a goal every other game. However he touch, work rate and general all round play in the game is that poor the majority of the time I don't feel that's enough.
Gabby up top with Ireland behind should easily be enough, however hope McLeish sends then out could end up been the hindrance.

Re: Darren Bent
The thing is Gabby up front wont be the answer if all we are doing is lumping the ball forward. He can lead the line well, one of our best spells in recent times was when Carew got injured under MON and he was superb in the role. However, we need to start playing football instead of just being negative, that is the concern. The other worry is Heskey will play up top. Give Gabby a go and the young lad Weimann may be given a chance as well

Re: Darren Bent
It's a very fine line. We're only four points behind Sunderland in 9th spot who are supposedly having a great season. However, the way we are playing you wonder how many games it will take to accumulate those four points. On paper Blackburn away followed by Fulham at home suggests that we should be looking for a minimum of four points if not all six. Can't see it though and whilst i still believe with the squad we have we should be getting at least 8th spot i'd take anything now above the relegation spots. It is important we don't lose this weekend to maintain that gap but you can bet your bollocks that Blackburn fans will be looking at the game thinking that they should be getting a win.

Re: Darren Bent
I don't think it's all doom and gloom, Blackburn away we need to get something, then it's Fulham and Bolton at home. At the start of the run of 4 games including Wigan, I wanted 8 points, to be fair the way the bottom of the table is looking 6 would be enough but I still think we will get 8 and we will see an improvement in our football with Gabby up front.
PS Note - If he plays Heskey up front and leaves Gabby on the wing, please allow me to delete this post and give the ginger twat some abuse.

I wouldn't take 15th now, Mctwat might be shit and is a negative tnuc, but we still can pick up points to see us move up the league even just a small amount, I don't see us being relegated still thanks to the awful teams below us.

Re: Darren Bent
I'd be tempted to take 15th. I know its shit and we should be doing better AND the few teams below us are cack but only 2 or 3 points from the next 3 games would leave us perilously close to the drop after the following 5 fixtures. Morale seems low, no player seems to be really on it and we've just lost our most potent goalscorer.

Why would you, a closet Spud, be worried where Villa finish?
