As you know i did 4.5yrs coaching kids football. I took them from U8s through to U13s. I can categorically say that with all the best intentions it won't happen. When i took my badge i raised the question that at U11s it changed from 7 a side to 11 a side, when surely playing on a three quarter size pitch 9 a side would be a better option. The bloke giving the seminar agreed and said it is down purely to a lack of pitches. Plain and simple. So basically what happens is the kids who are bigger and stronger outshine the smaller kids who may have more technical ability. This is why England will be more associated with the Scott Parker type than the Joe Cole type. English mentality doesn't favour gifted footballers. Hence why Phil Neville amassed more caps than both Gascoigne and Hoddle and Carlton fcuking Palmer won more caps than Le Tissier.
