Re: I can't believe
Both of the above posts highlight the fact that we're short of good-enough players.
Aside from Rooney (on his day), Gerrard and Wilshere I doubt that any of the others playing today would get into another half-way decent international team. The Ox is one for the future perhaps and maybe Walcott may yet develop into the specialist striker I've always thought of him as but really we're struggling when it comes to world-class players, like never before. We've always had top defenders/goalkeepers - not these days.

Great to see Rickie Lambert getting his chance and scoring a great goal. He puts pride in the shirt. As for Lampard and Gerrard, well at 35 and 33 they remain two of our best players. A damning indictment of the Premier League.

Gary Cahill as an our first choice centre half is even more evedence of how shite we are.jpr60 wrote:Both of the above posts highlight the fact that we're short of good-enough players.

Walcott is 25 next year, after how long he's been around u think your clutching at straws to think he'll be anything but an average player that is very fast and not a bad finisher.

I totally agree with you regarding Lambert, one of the outstanding players in the PL last season and fully deserving of his selection. He highlights the problem with England however, because no way would he have been selected had others been fit.QBVILLA wrote:Great to see Rickie Lambert getting his chance and scoring a great goal. England needs a bolder manager who's prepared to stick his neck out and try something new. There are good players playing for unfashionable PL clubs and in the Championship, they should be given a chance.
Playing Gerrard, who is miles from the player he was and Lampard was a backward step two seasons ago, what are they doing there now?
Anyway Lambert's was a Roy of the Rovers debut, great stuff and good luck to him!!!!

Re: I can't believe
Most of that team would not have got near squads of years ago . The two centre backs are ok premiership players, nowhere near good enough for international class, not sure Walker is either, Cleverley ffs, Welbeck motm, ffs that is how bad things have got. Hart I like, but he has made some howlers, I just hope he is still focused on improving. Well done to Lambert for getting his chance

Cleverley baffles me. To be playing for Man Utd he has to be a lot better than I give him credit for, but I just can't see what he brings to the team.

Cleverley I think is a Villa Player, at best, I'm not even sure he would be a guaranteed starter for us. Man U and England. **** knows how.QBVILLA wrote:Cleverley baffles me. Re: I can't believe
I agree re Cleverley and also I can't see anything that Kyle Walker does well, poor defender and slows the game down when he goes forward, poor crosser of the ball, so why is he there?

Re: I can't believe
We had Walker on loan a couple of seasons back and I think he's potentially a very good fullback. In Johnson, Richards and Walker we have three decent but not outstanding right backs. If Lowton continues his form from the last three months of last season he isn't going to be too far off either.

Re: I can't believe
We have serious problems..
I have been saying for year get rid of the old guard but bloody hell the tripe coming through is even worse..
We have no decent CB's.. No ball winner.. No intelligent winger and no fox in the box..
It really is worrying stuff..
