Well now, two possibilities spring to mind.
1. They offered him the prospect of Champions League next year.
2. Offshore bank accounts.

However, he's shown himself up in my opinion (not that he'd care about that, I'm sure!) and I think Zola is disgusted with him. You're welcome to him - maybe Defoe should warn him about the pitfalls of driving through Essex, though.
