The question now is who will take over from him?
McClaren in with a shout perhaps?

Re: zola sacked
He may well have resigned - there aren't many details at the moment.
MacLaren took a new job at Wolfsburg(?) this morning.

I wouldn't mind that. But hasn't he said he's got unfinished business at Pompey?

I heard there was a nice Italian bloke looking for a job, bit short in stature but makes up for it with a nice smile. Maybe he would suit ???

Don't be a silly sausage, Frenchie.
It has to be said that despite his niceness, his record with West Ham is dire.

29% Win Rate is completely unacceptable. Feel bad for the bloke, he has tried his best but he's just not good enough.
Mark Hughes would be my first choice, Grant and Bilic I'd be happy with too. Or anyone with di Canio as an assistant.

Any of those would do. Or Alex McLeish.

You dont think that the probems with your icelandic owners had any bearing on the issues for the season and Zola actually did very well to keep you from visiting portsmouth next season ??

Re: zola sacked
For about 90% of the season, the team just didn't look like they gave a feck. We need someone to come in and stamp his authority on the squad and get them motivated. Zola, for all his niceness, wouldn't be able to do that.

No. Sullivan & Gold can take the credit for keeping us out of administration, the media can take the credit for hyping up the whole thing all season, Scott Parker and Rob Green can take the credit for actually turning up. Zola really can't take much credit at all. I finally lost patience with him when he said again that he doesn't want to be involved with transfer dealings a couple of weeks ago.
8 wins all season? Simply not good enough.

It was a bad season certainly. But circumstances kept you up. I hope you are much improved next season.

QB, don't know about Clarke - can't see him staying.

Re: zola sacked
the Premiership will be stronger next season.newcastle and West Brom are better sides than teh three that went down.Added to that Blues and Wolves will be all the stronger for the year they've just had.Zola had to go and without significant investment in the squad next season could well be a repeat of this.By the way if Clarke has been retained then he's a fecking lucky boy

Re: zola sacked
I'm not predicting we'll take the Premiership by storm next season but I think we'll perform much better. S&G are in the process of buying another 10% of the club, giving them a 60% stake. They're also actively seeking investment and there's talk of a general share issue later in the season.
I think Zola depended far too much on Duxbury, Nani & Clarke, to be honest. All this talk of S&G interfering - I think they HAD to. We've got a number of decent players, just need to do a spot of pruning and for someone who knows the Premiership to make a few key signings and it'll make the world of difference.
