Capello 'til 2012!
Done well there, the FA. When he's completed the World Cup debacle he can continue to the Euro too! Smashing!
This is one shrewd operator - he knows how limited his chances are, in fact I reckon he's somehow under-achieved-in-advance (that's pretty difficult to arrange actually - OK, he's Italian, eh?!) and will now be in a position to handle the post-WC criticism comfortably with the cushion of a new contract.
I'd truly be happy to be proved wrong - I'm willing to be ridiculed.............................................

Well provided the twats at the FA are prepared to hang there head in shame yet again and resign along with Capello after the world cup couldn't care less about contracts or whatever he's signed.
Don't get me wrong i will be delighted to be wrong on this and see England all the way, just can't see it.

is the sudden Arsenal fans backlash on Capello anything to do with the exclusion of a certain underperforming Arsenal english player???

Certainly not, what did Walcott do to deserve a place in the squad? The lad needs to get his nut down, stay on his feet and earn his place, if he's good enough.Avfc_4eva_Sotc wrote:is the sudden Arsenal fans backlash on Capello anything to do with the exclusion of a certain underperforming Arsenal english player???

Have to say Jak, i would have taken Walcott.
Great pace, does it for England, thats proven, for a fair part of the games v Mexico and Japan he was a threat.
So where are we.
He drops Walcott form the squad, yet takes SWP hardly played this season, not impressed for England for a long time, hardly figured against Mexico or Japan, takes a player like Heskey who never scores, came on v Japan and missed a sitter ( now the country knows how we feel at Villa) drops Bent a Premiership leading scorer and despite him not quite impressing v Japan and Mexico have to say he did as much damage as everybody else IMO, If i were a detective i would say, do i smell a rat here.
Anyway we will soon know, personally i can't remember a time when i less looked forward to a world cup but i think that's just a general footy thing.

I'm disappointed Theo wasn't selected but not surprised. I'm disappointed that certain other players have been selected when not playing regularly/at all for their respective club team - SWP (replaced at club level by Johnson!), Carrick, Heskey - which shows, to me at least a lack of vision in the squad selection.
As for Theo I've always seen him as something of a specialist player - I could see him developing to be the new Thierry Henry at Arsenal. I watched him a few times playing for the England Under-21's a few years back and there was something about him. He's had a poor season - injuries, not much playing time - but I do see him as having a great future and trust that the Capello lack-of-vision thing won't knock him back too much. I'd be more than pleased when in four years time Theo is one of the first names on any England team-sheet and people are wondering why his potential wasn't realised earlier. Meanwhile I'm happy he'll be able to take a summer break and be back, fresh and ready to prove something next season with The Arsenal!

Very good and sensible point that JPR, I wish Milner was out of it and getting his feet up (assuming he's still a Villa player next season, which i very much doubt) same with Warnock, Villa really suffer at the back end of a season.
Capello...........IMO i couldn't in my wildest dreams describe this squad selection as a winning team, i could see it as a team selected to lose.
IMO there is 2 ways to look at this, your either on the side that Capello is some brilliant scheming strategist of a football manager or he's a complete nob, in which case if its the brilliant strategist, what the hell is he doing? if its the latter then he shouldn't be in the job. Wasn't it Mourinho that said he's no football coach.
