Benzema to Madrid?
1557 BST: Lyon agree to sell France international Karim Benzema to Real Madrid for £30m, with the striker set to sign a six-year contract.
Taken from BBC site.
It seems to be a case that they are buying everyone so no one else can!!

Will be interesting to see if the manager can get all these players playing well as a team.
Could be tough trying to keep all the egos happy

The first row will be who gets which number. Kaka has no.8, Ronaldo is next up for his intro to the fans on Monday I think, then, presumably Benzema unless someone else is bought in-between.
Imagine the monthly wage bill. Then, as you say it'll be the ego massaging - mind you, they've probably got a specialist in for that too. Gotta say you'd hope it would fail.

Will be interesting to see if they strenghten in the defence also. Doesnt matter what midfield/strikers you have, if you are leeking goals at the back, you will struggle

I was looking at the chart of record transfers over the years - there've been some great players e.g. Cruyff, Gullitt, Baggio, Zidane but there've been some expensive mishaps too - lots of 'em. I'm hoping Ronaldo will prove to be poor value for money and, without great defenders the latest Real Madrid will be a worth-watching disappointment.

Re: Benzema to Madrid?
I don't understand the dislike towards Real Madrid. They're a club heaped in tradition, the biggest club in the world, and probably the most successful ever. So what if they're buying the best players in the world?

Should read a book on the favourtism shown towards Real Madrid from the Spanish government from around the time of Franco. How are the banks giving them this money in the current financial situation, I wonder?

The E762m image deal they hold with Adidas and E360m annual revenue is what makes them so rich.

"If the money does not come from his own business, then it will come from a property developer."
Florentino Perez is a property developer.

So it is his money that is being spent is it?
Look into the history and the favourtism shown towards Real Madrid from the Spanish Government, they have always helped the club out. Read a book once, will try and dig it out, was a fascinating read to be honest.
