Man City
Can't see us winning tbh we have a dreadful record at their place, another 4-0 me thinks. Although bit of extra incentive knowing that the QF would be a home tie against Reading, that would set-up another good chance of a trip to Wembley.

Re: Man City
We need to step up, play with some grit and determination for a change and win this game any way we can. The incentive is huge.

Re: Man City
Is gabby still injured or whatever he missed the blackburn game for, could be Heskey upfront on his own

Gabby was on the bench for the Blackburn game wasn't he?
I would imagine that will definitely be Heskey up front on his own, well with Young and Gabby back on the left wing for Albrighton.
Who we going to play left back though?

Walker dunne Clark Downing
Albrighton Petrov NRC Pires
Young
heskey
Albrighton to give width and pires to tuck in to narrow the midfield.

Re: Man City
I would go with
................Friedel.................
Walker...Dunne..Clark..... Delph
Albrighton Petrov NRC Downing
................Young.................
................Heskey................
Cant see anyone else to play left back, and at least playing Downing on the left he will help out Delph, certainly wouldn't want Albrighton ahead of him, but as QB says, want to see Albrighton for the attacking option.
Was tempted to go for Gabby up front, but he hasn't been very good in the limited chances he has had up front, and Heskey has been very good at times. Pires I cant see playing two games in 4 days.

Re: Man City
Look!
You are facing a City team that are not firing on all cylinders at the moment.
You have the added incentive of playing Reading in the Qtr Final which I think is at home.
Villa have always had the shit end of the stick with City..... Its about time for revenge.
Just for once, I would like to see Villa win because City are a bank rolled bunch of prima donnas.
Good Luck for tonight.

Re: Man City
Just can't see it Ringo, even when Man City was shit and finishing in the bottom half it was no surprise to conceed 4 goals up at thier place, even at Villa Park they would beat, just seem to be our bogey team, and now that they are better and we are dodgy at the back I can't see us outscoring them. Plus we don't have a LB for tonight and 2 of our CB's are injured so it will be Clark (who has done well) but isn't the most experienced at the back with Dunne. No Bent, possibly no Gabby and Heskey our main striker, its hardly set-up for a Villa victory.
Still I'll be cheering them on with usual gusto.

Gabby was on the bench on the weekend, he was just dropped in place of Albrighton.

Re: Man City
C'mon!!!
Its a cup game and the form book goes out of the window!
Even West Ham are in the Qtr Final with a not unreasonable draw at the Britannia Stadium.
I think Villa can do it, with a wing and a prayer and a sympathetic ref.
Stranger things have happened.
Be Positive.
I will be watching the match and if Villa go in front, I will be shouting as much as you lot.
Of Course, We all know the Semi if you do win........ You Beat Reading, We Beat Stoke and West Ham get Villa in the semi.
I cannot see any other outcome if you get the win tonight.
I dread this forum if that outcome comes to fruition.

Have you played a premierleague team yet
I'm one of these annoying people that always think the worst, and I've been to Man City and witnessed us getting a thrashing more times then I care to remember so I'm afraid I'm not going to be all 'yeh we can do this come on'. I support them, sing my heart out dream of glory, doesn't mean I'm not sensible about our chances though.
i have a horrible feeling that if we did get through we would draw Birmingham at Wembley, now that could be a day of wonder or the darkest day of hell imaginable.

I reckon that if West Ham beat Stoke we'll draw Birmingham. For the 5th time this season.....

Re: Man City
There is that possibility as Brum are at home to Bolton.
Bolton are not great on their travels so the other major match is Manu v Arsenal.
I am not being detrimental to Orient, but I cannot see them beating the Gooners tonight as much as I think that Villa can do it.
As for Villa......... What has happened to Reo Coker?

Nothing he played very well away to Blackpool the other week, we have a few midfielders now and GH seems to like rotating them depending on his 'gameplan'.

I thought he'd got a 3 match ban.Anyway what has happened to Warnock and Beye? They're both sitting on juicy contracts, don't think one night's work is asking too much of them. Also no one has mentioned Bradley, maybe it's time to give him a go?

Re: Man City
I looked at the set up posted on here by ROT.
I must admit, I think that is your best chance of winning tonight.
I still think Villa will win it.
Which creates another problem, all you GH despisers are now screwed !
You have him for another season.
But I would accept the swap with Avram Grant.

I would happily see Bradley given a run out.
Beye and Warnock played for the reserves the other day, don't think there is a chance Houllier would ask them to play.
Luke Young is fit again but has gone on paternity leave.

Re: Man City
Got a good feeling about todays game. I think we'll get a result, surprisingly. I'd definitely play Gabby, scored a 'perfect', 7 minute hat trick aganst them, (also it was the 2nd fastest hat trick in Prem history) two seasons ago, could be a good omen with Bent cup tied tonight.
Reckon he'll go
..............Friedel.............
Walker Dunne Clark Delph
......... NRC Petrov.............
Downing...Young..Agbonlahor

Agre on the selection but would go 4-4-2 with gabby upfront and young on wing which I still think is his best position

Yeah without a doubt on the left wing, he can be brilliant but it looks like he might be getting better in the second striker position.
