1980's
I've been playing (at the request of my youngest son, you know the one) Huang Chung ("China", Dance Hall Days") and Scritti Politti ("Wood Beez", "Perfect Way") - pulled a couple of vinyl albums out of my collection - what a gay day!

Re: 1980's
And A few more I think are from the 80's ...........
Piet Veerman - if You Give Me Your Heart
Phil Collins - In Too Deep
Peter Gabriel - Games Without Frontiers (Although this one could be earlier)
Paul Young - Softly Whispering I Love You
Mike And The Mechanics - The Living Years
Johnny Horton - Sink The Bismark (This one really pissed me off, It took an American to remind us of our history)
Marti Webb - Take That Look off Your Face
Madonna - Like A Prayer
M People - Search For The Hero
Some of these may be slightly earlier or slightly later, but all are worth a listen.

Wet Wet Wet did most of their stuff in the 80s, though the song Ringpiece mentioned was mid 90s.
I love the 80s stuff, favourite era for party music

Seeing Grandmaster and Public Enemy at Bestival. You've left out KRSone from that list though.

Re: 1980's
I have stated that I remember these songs roughly from 1978 to 1980 to 1995........ It was a place for half decent music if you were selective.

Re: 1980's
Meatloaf.
Great music but the problem to many was all his songs were too long.
Biggest disaster he ever made was mixing Home By Now/No Matter What together.
Some boy band called 'Boyzone' took 'No Matter What' and made a big hit of it but the rare versions around where meatloaf does it by itself are brilliant but rare as I stated.
