What a brilliant day!
One of those days when everything goes right.
We parked up at Meadow Lane, Notts County offer their car park & the very nice Meadow Lane Sports Bar to away fans, we were sitting having a cup of tea and a bacon roll at 10:30am. The staff at both clubs were friendly and helpful, as were the police.
The game: just great, from start to finish. The away fans were rocking, very vocal. Foresst started a "You let your country down" chant, we threw back "So did your manager", which pretty much did the job. For some reason, Forest come out onto the pitch to "Mull of Kintyre", which we all swayed along to.
"We're winning away
We're winning away
How shit must you be
We're winning away"
and a new song in Nolan's honour, together with all the old faithfuls.
When Forest scored to make it 3-1, Chelsea Dagger blared out. A gift from the gods, to the travelling fans.
Towards the end of the game a strut supporting a net fell down over our section of the stand. It looked as though the whole thing was going to fall, which could have been nasty. The stewards were slow to realise what happened, so everone helped by singing "Snap in a minute, it's gonna snap in a minute" and pointing. They evacuated our section, moving us next to the home stand, singing "City Ground is falling down, poor old Forest". We missed Winston Reid's goal (celebrated by West Ham fans with Chelsea Dagger, of course) because of this. A minor annoyance, though.
Some of the Forest fans applauded us as they left, which was nice.
And then the drive home, enlivened by football commentary on the radio. Nice.

Re: What a brilliant day!
Sounds like a great day.
I guess the song ' City ground is falling down' was to the tune of 'London Bridge is falling down'.
The great thing about the away fans in the sharp wit they have.
I will never forget the great day I had with them at Ewood Park, the time that some bloke called Tevez actually scored, whatever happened to him?

It was. A perfect football day.
Our next games are:
Portsmouth (H)
Millwall (A)
Peterborough (H)
Ipswich (H)
All winnable, I think. Hopefully the next awayday for us will be Palace on 1 October. We're giving Millwall a miss.

Something tells me we won't get the welcome and hospitality at Millwall that you received in Nottingham.

Oh, and Forest paraded Carl Froch (boxer from Nottingham) with his belt at half time. He gave the crossed arms Hammers salute!
And SSN showed a rather nice montage of Steve McLaren's bad day earlier. Worth a watch if you can find it.

Apart from anything else, there are a lot of restrictions on the tickets for the Millwall game. And I really don't want to have to watch my back like that. It's a fixture that brings out the worst in both sets of fans.

I think we'll be passing on the Leeds away game too, for similar reasons.

Glad you enjoyed the day so much and take such great joy in the plight of others...
You want to come down here for the Pompey game.... regular running battles in the streets.... I shall be off to the isle of wight that day..

Providing it's a weekend fixture, our away game at Pompey is on my list.

I think they are normally fine... it seems that there is a rabid hate here between the two cities. To the point families disown their offspring if they marry into the wrong camp.....
Its quite weird

Our away game at Southampton is midweek, so it's not a goer for us, I'm afraid.

Well, I'd like to say we'll do it next season, but unless Southampton get promoted too, it won't happen.
