Another trophy won!
Way-to-go Arsenal, winning their first trophy of the new season at Southampton, in competition with the host club and Anderlecht. The Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup - the beginning of a successful season 2012-2013!

Oh come on you bunch of ne'er-do-well cynics, you know this is a MASSIVE win for The Arsenal, the shape of things to come. Every competition we enter, we win - oh yes, I foresee much rejoicing afoot for us Gooners!
(My apologies, especially to my mate Frenchie, for the Spud-flavour of this thread - I'm just trying to get some insight into how a maxi-optimistic fan might react to early/pre-season success - I'm doing a psycholigical study, don't you know)!

Congratulation to le arse, great trophy to win. Reminds me of when Birmingham won some massive (as in size) trophy in Spain prior to 78/9 season I think it was and then proceeded not to win a league game till about November

Memories, eh? I've been playing some music lately that reminded me what a great record colection I've got, I've been looking at the season video 1990-91 when The Arsenal were almost "The Invincibles" (only lost the one match, to Chelsea) and conceded just 18 goals all season (whilst scoring 74) and then, of course later we became "The Invincibles".
Have to say I've got that feeling - do you know "that feeling" Lutes? Perhaps not. It's an all-conquering feeling of positivity - hitherto known only to Spuds!

Well its a good feeling isnt it... but I dont quite know why you feel like this....
We have a new manager who is going to be all conquering ( If he stops talking to the idiot media) and actually does something good.. New players who look good on paper and we are losing the dead wood....
You on the other hand seem to be going the opposite way.... Same stale old manager... and your top player buggering off along with a few others....

Our top player "buggering"? Oh well, 'tis quite possible but we've two new'uns coming in. "Stale manager"? Now I know you're having a chuckle. If only your new, fresh (dare I say naive) manager had half Arsene's capability and know-how you'd be on a winner (well, more-or-less). What's that? You're signing Adebayor? Say no more squire, say no more!

I do wish ABV would shut up.... he seems intent on letting the media misquote him and make him look a fool...

He seemed to make a good job of that himself, at Chelsea.

JP, I have a feeling right at this moment, it is 26 May 1982, Rotterdam. A shite English club called Aston Villa beating the mighty Bayern Munchen thanks to a wonder goal from Peter Withe. Proper European Champions, have you ever had that feeling

Now you're only proud for about half a minute when you wake up in the morning, it's all down hill from there
