Wilson Palacios on Loan
Looks like it's going to happen....
Mat Kendrick @MatKendrick
Some tentative talk of #avfc working on a loan (for a player, not for cash from the bank), but no definite details about it yet

Put it this way, there's truth in the talk you're hearing elsewhere & celebrity #avfc fan Tom Hanks would approve

Re: Wilson Palacios on Loan
We're definitely getting a player in.
My guess would be Charlie Adam or Jake Livermore.
Loan signing.

Apparently it's a young player that's done well in MSL. What a fucking joke.

My lad looked him up on wiki and he has good pedigree, had trial at Bournemouth and was unlucky not to be taken on by them

Good think not to sign a centre half or any Premier League experience.

Well if he's the one who keeps making up transfer info, to make you look a tit on here he's probably wineding you up.

He is the one who told me at end of December that we had no money to spend, has been proved right on that one . As for wineding me up, do you drink red or white as reckon you are celebrating too much the signings of cilla and dawkins

At the start of the transfer window I thought that was exactly what we needed, an unknown French midfielder who has only ever played one game in the top flight, and an attacking midfielder who has never played a game in a top league.
Very very bizarre transfer window, I don't blame Lerner though, Lambert is to blame for me.
We need experience, even if we had bugger all money, if Lambert wanted them, sure we could have loaned Matthew Upson and Huddlestone or Palacious. Or even just Paul Sharner.
I can't believe we haven't signed a centre half.

Your right.. asking a manager to save the club with a wages budget of 20K a week is about right.

Lambert put us in the shit in the first place.
And I don't care, I still think Lerner would have given money if Lambert asked, I think Lamberts passing the buck. He has decided what kind of player he want's to bring to the club, and he won't waver from that.
How do you know he had a 20k wage budget anyway? We got rid of Warnock and Hutton on loan so that sounds like a bit of a bollocks to me.

Re: Wilson Palacios on Loan
I'm a little optimistic about Sylla, he seems like a player who might just hit the ground running as Sissoko did for Newcastle.
Even if he provides just a little bit more protection for the back 4, he would have done his job. Attacking-wise we seem ok, still not the greatest though.

lerner has well and truly pulled the plug. No way would a manager in Lamberts position not spend given our current situation if the money was available.

If he had more and he chose to just get players with low wages then he is a fool and should be sacked today!
Re: Wilson Palacios on Loan
The fact he still played 5 at the back against Newcastle after over a month of it failing makes me think that Lambert is ridiculously stubborn. I think he refused to dieviate from his original plans when he joined.

Re: Wilson Palacios on Loan
Lerner is the problem for me. If you don't want to lose/spend your millions don't buy a Premier League football club, simple as.
I never expected to be like CHelski or Citeh they are working on a very different level, but their owners knew what it costs for success and they kept on going at it. When mistakes were made they didn't shut up shop and completely change direction.
Some blame ONeill, but it was Randolph who gave him complete control, it was him that pulled the plug when the wages got to much, it was him that hired GH and McLeish. It is now him that has left his new manager with very little in terms of quality for the biggest end of season run in in recent history.
Lambert has made mistakes without a doubt, he's spent 25 million on something like 10 players. For the Premier League that is spread very thinly especially as 7m of that was Benteke.
I would love to know what Randolphs vision is now for AVFC, as Premier League success is most definitely not it. While he remains in control this is where we are and it will probably get worse before it gets better.
