Looks as though Theo will be in the squad for the Southampton match. This could be an ace game, both teams much-improved from the same fixture last season (6-1 as I recall) so I'd still be looking for an Arsenal win (of course) but perhaps it won't be so emphatic.

I have really enjoyed watching Southampton this season and unlike Hull a few years ago I think they'll maintain their early season form and will finish top 7. A magnificent achievement for a club who were in League 1 four seasons ago. Also they have a good nucleus of English players which bodes well for the national side.

I agree. Southamton are a good example of honest endeavour. They are a TEAM, you can't always buy that.

The manager at Southampton has doen a cracking job, terrible error by the keeper for the first goal though. Saw a clip of it and is very funny. They play good football and hope they continue to play in the same manner and get good results.

Yes the goalkeeper needs stuffing.
A tough game for the Gunners, Southampton work so hard and we weren't right on our game but The Arsenal are no pushovers defensively these days and we got what is a good result against a good team.

Plus, TBH we could've been 2-0 up before Boruc put on his show and what superb goals they would've been too, Wilshere chipping sublimely over the defence only to see the ball come back off the post to the keeper and Ramsey's clever back-heel beating the keeper, only for the ball to hit the same post.
True we weren't quite on our game but we still had enough to beat Southampton - a good sign methinks - now it's heads down in preparation for Marseille. It'll be interesting to see who starts now that we appear to have some choices. By the way, that was Jack Wilshere's best Arsenal performance this season and he lasted the full 90-odd minutes, also a good sign.

I agree with you regarding Wilshire but he still needs to move the ball a bit quicker.
Considering a number of our players are not firing on all cylinders and we've got a few to come back, things ain't looking too bad. 

Did well enough against Marseille and Jack Wilshere continued in form - a second top performance from the Young Man!
Another match where we probably should have scored more - the Ozil pen, obviously and both Ramsey and Cazorla missed chances that you would expect them to put away. Still, as long as we continue to create chances it's a good thing.
Now, Cardiff away - I fancy a win!

A much better performance from Wilshire. Good result. I still think Rosicky is a weakness in our squad. For me he was poor again last night. If he gives possession away that cheaply in vital areas against better sides he will do us damage.

As a neutral i'd highlight Mertesacker as Arsenal's most improved player this season. Obviously Ramsey has been getting all of the plaudits but in the last five years Arsenal have always played good football. Their problem has been they have also been a soft touch. Mertesacker now looks like a proper no nonsense centre back.

I think that had Mertesacker played against Man U we would not have lost.
He's a very good player who has now settled into life in the PL.

Mertesacker is an organiser - you watch the game live you see him talking, instructing, gesticulating and he's always in the right place as cover but it's the unit that is working well. He and Koscielny compliment each other with Koscielny biting into early tackles. I also think Flamini in front of the back four gives the defence even great security - OK, Arteta does that too but Flamini is also a talker, barking out orders - it all seems to work well! Long may it last.

Metersaker has been brilliant BUT Ramsey looks something else.. it is like signing a 25M pound new player..

Along with Gibbs them three have really helped in your great start..

Arsenal look good but i think you should add in Jan for def.. the real test will be if you go thru a rough patch.. how the players respond..

The first game of the season was a rough patch.  
We've responded well since then.

A really good performance against Cardiff.
We're looking a good side now, boys and girls. 

Like the Southampton game that was a dangerous match, the kind you can easily slip up in if you're not ready but we are aren't we - I mean we do actually look and perform as if we're The Business. Isn't it nice - top of the league (by the odd 7 points FFS) - I'm continuing to enjoy this!

Are you REALLY a neutral?
I think a lot of you Villa lads have a soft spot for The Arsenal. 

Out of the other 19 Prem clubs I probably do favour Arsenal. Twice a season I fecking hate em though
