Danny Welbeck, eh? I didn't see that one coming, still, he fits the bill, fast, young - perhaps Arsene feels he can make a Thierry Henry out of him, let's hope so! I'd expected a back-up centre-back or a holding midfielder and we get a new young striker - welcome Danny, prove to us that Arsene knows!

Welbeck has taken some unfair stick in the media, as is the case with all English strikers. Can't see him ever being a 20 goal a season man but in a summer when McCormack cost £11m in the Championship and Long cost £12.5m I'd say Arsenal have got themselves a bit of a bargain.

Only Arsene has the touch - we're looking at Thierry-Henry-II here!

I agree QB, although I can't quite work out what ManU are doing. They've got a World-Class Striker (or two), a World-Class Midfielder (pr two) and some pretty ordinary defenders, plus the strikers have probably both peaked - if I were a ManU fan I wouldn't be too chuffed to have lost Welbeck, thinking long(er) term. Still, that ain't my problem.

They can do without Welbeck but I agree their transfer dealings are lop sided. Their defenders are in the majority bottom half of the table players.

Swap you Wellbeck for cleverly?

Wellbeck is a tidy player for 16m, with the amount of chances he gets at Arsenal he'll score plenty of goals. I'd say that was the bargain of the transfer window, I bet Whinger can't believe his luck.

Wellbeck has never had a long run at centre forward. When he has played there he's had a decent return.
One thing about him is he works his nuts off and adds speed to our attack. Welcome and good luck Danny Wellbeck.
