RIP
Vic Groves, a regular in the team when I first turned up at Highbury, had passed away. He was a typical player of his time - I remember him getting an ankle injury on a heavy pitch, he was carried off and returned ten minutes later with a big white support bandage over his boot and sock - probably didn't want to take them off cos his ankle was too swollen - those were the pre-substitute days! Rest in peace Vic and thanks for the memories.

Re: RIP
I remember Vic Groves when I was a lad, he went on to skipper The Arsenal.
Indeed, jpr, the game was different then. One of my memories of that time was standing at Upton Park watching The Arsenal get slapped 6-0. It would be fair to say the team weren't at their best in Vic's time but he was a stalwart.
RIP Vic, thanks for the memories of when I was a young Gunner and I just loved visiting Highbury, however the Gunners played.
