So word on the street is that NRC says he'll stay - kind of obvious, because we all know of the 'newspapers reports' that said he would sit out his final year.

But today, the same papers claim that he said he wants to fight for his first team place, by getting his head down, training well and getting ahead of Petrov, or maybe literally! (i.e, the MON bust-up).

Good news IMO. If he does go we'll get at least £5m for him, if he stays, better for us as we all know he's a good player.

ANYHOO, additions to the squad - anyone heard anything? Apart from the normal bullshit, Doyle/Carlton Cole etc.

He doesn't want to stay, he is just letting the club know he will stay so they sell him for less than 5 million as he will be able to leave on a free at the end of next season.

I heard that someone told MON that Torres and Ibrahimovic are both tasty strikers - he has asked Robbo to check out who they play for and get some info on them

He will have to half his wages the gready twat Very Happy

Anyway, we have rejected the bid, guess it all depends now on what Milner actually wants to do.

Doubt we will know what is going to happen on this until after the World Cup.

Or Milner wanted to wait until after the World Cup to talk about a new deal?

Yeah maybe.. but wouldnt put it past us to didther..

If he is waiting for after the WC then i think he is a goner.. football is a funny game now a days.. there is no patience at all.. another seaosn at Villa wouldnt kill Milner.. he would only get better and next summer if we still havent won anything he could still move to a biger club.. but i have a feeling he will be gone this summer.. just hope we get 30M atleast for the guy or Ireland is included in the deal..

I dont think he will go to Man City, however if Man U come in for him, which I think they will, then I think he will be off.

RoT nothing surprises me anymore.. the way Man City will sell it to him is the fact Arsenal Untied have no money to spend and Man City will spend big and give him most likely 100k a week.. I think he shoudl wait for United but i can see him going.. esp if they end up goign to soemhting like 32M.. which they might..

Also Sky sports are saying we are interested in Bentley again.. i know a lot of people think he is a Tosspot but the lad has a lot of ability.. wouldnt mind seeing him in a Villa shirt..

They might, but Man City just buy players because they can, and i think Milner will be clever enough not to just go after the money, when he will most likely end up playing on the wing a lot for Man City.

One thing we know, this one will drag and drag.

Your right but players have some different mindset.. maybe they think about injuries etc and a big payday.. but its been seen load sof times before..

I hope he doesnt go but atleast we will get top whack for him if he does due to Man Citys wealth..

What a shame for football that we are talking around the £30m mark for Milner. He's a decent player but.........
It's gone crazy and you wonder how long it will be before the bubble completely bursts.

Very true, but then if we compare that to the £24m that Man City paid for Lescott...........

Agree ROT Man City have pushed the price of players up. Milner is a solid player and at his current level is worth a good 15 - 20m. So when you take into account that he is still young and potentially could become an england star then his Value has to be pushed up to £30m otherwise whats the point in selling. And that would still only make him like 1/3 of the player that Ronaldo is based on value.

0845 BST: Manchester United are ready to make a £28m bid for Aston Villa midfielder James Milner. Villa have already turned down a £20m bid from Manchester City for the 24-year-old who is currently with England at their pre-World Cup training camp in Austria.

I'd let him go for £28million. As long as its only him from our top players.

I wouldn't, we can haggle here and get Man Utd and Man City into a bidding war with each other where they are desperate to not let the other win.
