Last night
Went on the piss last night after the game, was in a bar in town called the Vault and a fight kicks off, and its Fabbian Delph laying into someone, the Habbib Beye jumps in as well before the bouncers come over. In the end the Villa Players got kicked out, NRC, Cueller and Brad Guzan as well. I went out side to see what was going on, and Habbib Beye was trying to fight the bouncers, Delph was trying to have a go and them as well and Guzan just picked Delph up and carried him off down the road which he didn't look happy about.
Through all this Cueller was just looking bemused and NRC was trying to be the peace maker.

Re: Last night
If it's true that half the first team are out on the lash then there's the reason why Villa aren't living up to expectations. And whaddya know, it ain't the manager, it's the players!
In the old days the players were out and about, drinking, stayin'out late - all the stuff that your common bloke (me included) would be doing given the life-style, money and fame that goes with one of the best jobs in the world. But today your top-level footballer is an athlete, a fine-tuned beast that should be following strict controls - what he eats, when and how much he sleeps, what supplements he should be taking etc. Alcohol is out. Getting in fights in bars is out. Staying out late is out. If you wanna compete with the best, over a period of time, you've got to take care. That's it, the price of success. Let the fans go out and get pissed, get into trouble - the players should be calm. If not, they don't perform.
If it's true then Houllier has got his work cut out!

I did say "If this is true.....". It does sound like the old days though, the days of Alan Hudson (the times I saw him gettin'em in in Sarf London boozers), of The Merse, Tony Adams - all great players but really screwing up their respective professional lives. Bobby Moore used to advertise going down the local for a beer way back when. Those were the days!

JPR, do you think it is a bad thing for players to unwind sometimes?

Ha, I would hardly make it up, I'm not like VFL making up imaginary friends, it happened at about 11pm as well so not sure if the players were that tanked up.
The bouncer told me he chucked the players mostly because they were been so arrogant about it as he didn't know who started.

Depends what you mean by "unwind".
After training, after a match they should be doing some stretching to loosen themselves, maybe a sauna/Turkish bath/rub-down, whatever - if they need to discuss stuff, if they have any problems there should be someone they can talk to.
If they need to get away from the game to relax they can do that, with or without club/team-mates but it shouldn't involve bigging themselves up with alcohol or whatever, playing Charlie-Big-Bollox at the local all-night club where the slappers are. They've got to be aware that whatever they do, they are in charge of a prize asset - themselves - that shouldn't be allowed to come to harm, externally or internally.
That's it really, common sense and thanks for the big money, fantastic chance they've got in their respective lives.

I rather like ROT. I find him a very reliable and believable witness. If he says he saw it, that's good enough for me!!
He seems to have your card reliably marked too.
