Enke used to play for Benfica - and he is one strange guy
He lived in the very upmarket Sintra area and enraged the locals by continually taking in stray dogs (the four legged variety) and at one point had twelve until the council served an order on him
Having seen him play I´m surprised the train didn´t pass underneath his dive

Not sure that's what his coach had in mind when he told him to stay on the line for crossing.

Bad coaching though, somebody needs to tell him balls don't usually come that big or that fast.

Re: German keeper in suspected suicide
The only thing i find a bit weird, if this bloke was at such a desperate point mentally that he was fighting this self harm thing 2 things, the first how did he maintain a place in his clubs side and wouldn't that be a bit risky depending on a keeper like that in something as crucial as a penalty shoot out.

Black humour aside - I've a person who suffers from depression in my family and it's a seriously sh!te state of affairs.
It's shocking to think that someone can feel so bad that they want to write themselves off despite having loved ones around and a whole life to live. No matter what you say, there's no way of knowing if and/or when the thing just gets so bad that they cannot continue.
I suppose this guy just had enough of everything and I daresay there's a hell of a lot of stress going down when you're a pro sportsperson, on top of living a 'normal' life.
My depressive family member is only ever at his best, in total control and totally confident when he's playing football (he's pretty good). Despite loving parents, family and friends, who have all helped him thus far (not to mention professional helpers) nobody is sure what's gonna happen next in his life. So, as I say, black humour aside, depression is a bloody awful state of affairs and we should all be thankful we don't suffer from it.

Not to mention the wife and kid he's left behind. Suicide is a selfish act.

No, it's not. It's the act of a disturbed mind.

i agree with jesus for a change suicide is very selfish to family and loved ones who are left to deal with the pain of an untimely death.

Plus the Hanover Back 4 who will have to spend all week practicing defending dead ball situations with a different keeper

Can you ever imagine feeling bad enough to end your life? Imagine what that must feel like. It's completely against our natural survival instinct. Depression is an illness every bit as serious as cancer.

Re: German keeper in suspected suicide
attempted suicide is generally the cry for help which has been missed.............................persons who have committed suicide have done so because they see no other way out for them. It's a deep and disturbing state of mind and a person to do it is in total belief they are doing the best for them and their family by disappearing, no its not selfishness at all, it's devastation that know one has noticed and tried to help someone before they get to that state.

Imagine how his wife is feeling right now, how his kid is feeling right now. How could he inflict that amount of pain on the two people he loves the most knowing exactly what it feels like to lose someone who you love?

I'm sorry, but you really don't understand depression, if you think like that.
