Re: Man City
Was a good game to watch and our defense was excellent.. Collins wins everything in the air and Dunne was excellent at organising the defense and didnt put a foot wrong.. Bellamy was there star man and despite that Cuellar IMO had a very good game at RB.. Gabby lead the line brilliantly and worked his socks off.. Some very encouraging signs today..
Young looks like he had lost a bit of form and the less aid about Heskey the better..
Cant wait for Downing to be fit and match fit.. think he will add another dimension to our game..
Chelsea up next.. another tough test..

Dunne and Collins were excellent tonight..
Very good game, could've won it but in the end a draw a fair result.

College for me on a Monday night so couldn't have gone anyway.Had Barry have gone to Liverpool last year following that interview with the News of the World then i'd be 100% in agreeance. However, he didn't, gave us a good season last year and Man City were the only club to offer the money Villa wanted.£12 million for a 29yr old in the last year of his contract is good business, and after 400+ games I think the abuse he got last night was over the top.Man City have given him a better opportunity to get CL football and are paying him an absolute fortune. At the end of the day he was an employee, not a fan. Can't blame him for leaving, and he's the best midfielder i've seen play for us since Sid Cowans.
Anyway as for the game.I got home in time for the 2nd half. Was particularly impressed with Dunne and Warnock.Hammers fans, i owe an apology, Collins looks a real player and for £5 million I think we've robbed you.Was also impressed with Gabby's workrate, he has definitely upped his game.Overall a good point against a good side who IMO had Bellamy was their stand out player.

The player who plays more than 400 games for the club and brings in a record fee gets booed
The player who has a fight with the Manager gets a huge cheer

Yes lion, and the fattest player in the land according to your good self also gets a huge cheer from all in the ground after a superb performance.
As for Barry, if he had gone to a champions league club like he stated, there is no doubt he would have got a great reception upon his return to Villa Park. Unfortunately, he didnt do so and made himself look a bit of a plonker. He should have just admitted that he left for nothing more than money

Lion didn't see the game so he wouldn't know how Dunne played.Unfortunately Lion only sees Villa games when we don't play well :fishing:
Don't agree with you regarding Barry. If one of the Sky 4 had been in for him and he'd turned them down for Man City then there'd have been no argument, but Man City were the only club to stump up the dosh. They've kept their promises regarding which players they were bringing in and it's fair to say that at 29 this contract was going to be the biggest one he'd get to sign.I'd have been more pissed off had he got the move 12 months previous after he and his agent tried to engineer his move to Liverscum.

Re: Man City
regardless of all going to man city for what reasons, I booed him for the way he conducted himself over the liverpool saga, he is a twat and he could have turned down man city and said he only wants to go to liverpool if it really was all about champions league. Anyway, he still got a clap from th entire ground at the end of the match, even from those who booed him, my self included, not that we will see that reported in the press, the booing is all part of the banter.
anyway it was a great game, very enjoyable for a 1-1 draw, both teams played out of their skins and I think was probably both happy to settle for a draw at the end. Dunne and Collins have been excellent for us, cheers hammers.

Seems like you hammers are missing him Beds, even Upson looked dodgy for the pen the other day. As for Green, saw the second goal, that was poor keeping IMHO.
AVFC, have to say I thought that was one of the best performances I have seen from the team in quite some time. The football was good and certainly not Lion's long ball theory. Funnily enough, Lion didnt see the game and didnt see the performance of the lardy lad Dunne.

I'd have been happy for Collins to stay. He was rather injury prone for us though, which is probably why the club let him go rather than other players.

I've seen and heard through the media that Zola and Clarke didn't want to sell Collins but it was decided over their heads to sell Collins and replace him with the cheaper Da Costa.Makes me wonder how much more Zola will take.Ultimately if results don't go his way it's Zola's job and his reputation on the line, which is unfair if he hasn't got control over which players are at his disposal.

We need new owners. Fast. The media do talk bollox as we know, but CB Holdings are not not not a long term solution. I suspect they're putting an unrealistic price on the club, but apparently minor creditors are pushing for a sale when the moratorium ends in (I think) December. I can't think of any other football club that has found thmeselves to be the only asset of an otherwise bankrupt country...........

This wasn't just press journalists.Heard Tony Cottee for one saying such a thing.I'm not privvy to West Ham's accounts but i'd guess Da Costa is on less than Collins was. It's all well and good shving a few quid off the wage bill but if it concludes in relegation then how much does that cost?

Re: Man City
Talksport were saying this morning that West Ham are in such a bad state financially that even the porn man Sullivan wouldnt be interested. Also rumours on there that Napoli are interested in Zola. Collins has far exceeded my expectations and does seem strange that you would sell a player who apparently was MOTM in his last game for West Ham at Blackburn.

I think Sullivan either wants a cut price sale of some of the debt written off.
