One of the better performances I have seen in a long while. Well deserved a least the point and with better finishing should have been 3. Guzan was flawless in goal and deserves his place without a doubt, Shay better get used to the bench. The back 4 defended very well only thing lacking at times was the distrubution,Lichaj the biggest offender. Very pleased with Vlaar and Lowton, looked comfortable throughout.
Ireland looks reinvigorated under Lambert and pulled the strings throughout, the weakest link for me was Holman, lots and lots of running and effort but little quality, their goal was outstanding but I would blame him for giving the space too easily.

With the new additions to come in, I feel a slight air of content for the 1st time in ages. This Villa side worked and hustled like one I havent probably ever witnessed, we might get turned over a fair few times by the bigger more quality sides but I think most sides will find themselves in a game against us now. It hasnt been like that in years.

I only saw the last half hour, but enjoyed seeing us pass the ball. By all accounts we deserved the 3 points, but would have been happy with a point before the game. Think we will only improve under Lambert, he is really impressing me

Guzan was very commanding in the half hour I saw, coming out for crosses. Made a good save at the end from Cabaye free kick. Good to see that Lambert is not afraid of making tough decisions

Just seen us on motd. That's the best I've seen us play for a very long time.

Vlaar K EA both looked good. Holman worked very hard.

Ireland stood out for me. Looked very lively.

Thats a good point that. Maybe my initial horror at how shit we have been in the transfer market was a bit hasty. I haven't watched any football yet this season. No matches, no MOTD, no highlights, nothing. Not really missing it either although I think I might be ready to have a look once the Internationals are out of the way.

You fickle fecker Villainies Very Happy

It really was an excellent performance and there is now back up with the new signings and players coming back from injury. There will no doubt be the odd bad day, but am pleased with Lambert's vision for the club. He has already shown that he will make his own decisions and good luck to him. The signings he has made who played yesterday all had good games and he has certainly brought Ireland intot he fold and he is repaying him. Actually seems as if they enjoyed playing yesterday

Have been on holiday until today so I've seen nothing of the game, great to hear that we are playing some decent stuff, plus hopefully a coupe of the new signings will improve us and Gabby back, plus Albrighton and Dunne back in a month or so. Maybe all isn't that bad.

ROT, Gabby came on as sub and looked very sharp, created a decent chance for Bent near the end. It was an excellent performance, we looked a decent team.
