2011/2012 Season

This has been one of the most enjoyable seasons for a long, long time as far as I'm concerned.

When you consider how our squad was decimated during the summer I thought we'd be a mid-table side this season. Some even thought we'd be battling relegation. Then along came Chris Hughton and a new style of football, the likes of which we haven't seen at Blues for many years.

Europa League - some fantastic memories. From those classic European nights at St. Andrews to the invasion of Brugge by some 10,000 soldiers of the Blue Army. Narrowly missed out on qualification from the group. A brave effort.

FA Cup - a decent cup run and took Chelsea to a replay. Could have beat them at their place in the first game. A brave effort.

League Cup - as defending Champions we came up against probably the best team in the country in Man City. They beat us but we weren't disgraced. A brave effort.

Championship - against the odds we finished 4th in the league and only lost once at Fortress St. Andrews. A great achievement, although we were clearly running on empty towards the end. Disappointing displays against Blackpool in the play-off semis, except for the 2nd half of the second leg. A game too far after a 62 match season. A brave effort.

Well done to Chris and the team. You did us proud.

Can't believe I made it to the end of that yawnfest. A brave effort indeed!

Another season languishing in the lower leagues for you boys though during which time the Villa will re-establish themselves nicely. Blouse have really got to get out of the Npower next season before the parachute payments dry up though. I really worry you could be stuck there for a long time to come with the transfer embargo and imminent departure of Hughton.

We had some good times with the Blues this season - those were just a few of the highlights. I've got loads more if you're interested?

So, tell me. What were the highlights of viler's season? The 0-0 draw with West Brom perhaps? Or maybe the 0-0 draw with Wigan? How about the 0-0 draw with Swansea? And who could forget the 0-0 draw with Wolves! Cracking stuff.

0-0 draw with Sunderland for me.

Actually the highlight was the 5th minute injury time winner to beat the mighty Fulham at home

I forgot the 0-0 against Stoke, that was a boxing day cracker. There are so many to chose from. Fingers crossed he will be gone and it will be a bit more exciting next season.

You also told us that our season was a mirror image of yours in the Prem and we would go down so lets hope you are wrong twice.

You have to admit though, there have been striking similarities. You could well finish the season on 38 points and stay up. We finished on 39 points and went down.

I think its been a great season.. if we had mustered another ten points this twat would never be sacked.. we will have cleared a massive chunk of the wage bill too..

As it stands a defeat at Norwich with us not scoring should hopefully put an end to his reign..
