The first half of FMJ is amazing, and Platoon is overrated IMO.

Get Apocalypse, Now.

Yeh platoon is a bit overated, the only good Vietnam film I think is 'We were soldiers' I remember liking 'Hamburger Hill' aswell but can only remember it for one scene where the americans mow down their own troops with helicopter fire.

We Were Soldiers is only ok. Not enough action for my liking and no real message is being made.

I think the message is study where the french went wrong and you will survive.

Personally I prefer World War 2 films. Band of Brothers (not a film I know) is the best series. My favourite film is probably Letters of Iwa Jima, probably not enough action for you ff but I thought it was a brilliant film.

A good Chinese war film is Assembly, they are starting to produce some quality films.

Band of Brothers is absolutely brilliant.

The Pacific, the follow up to it, is being aired next year on fucking sky movies, so I'll miss it.

The ad for it looks class

I didn't really like 2 letters of iwa jima, good acting but a bit boring

But Iwa Jima really gives you a sense of what the fighting was like, and you feel the acceptance of the japs that they can't win but simply fight to the bitter end.

If its all about the action then Black Hawk down has to be one for you, Enemy at the Gates? I struggle to think of many war films that are completely action packed.

Shit sorry, I like the iwa jima one but not the flags of our fathers. They were both directed by Eastwood so i got a bit confused.

Enemey at the gates is horrendous. Don't like any movies with jude law in it.

Loads of violence and blood in it. It's class. Gets a bit boring towards the end of it though. The start scene is one of the best ever.

Anything to do with shaving privates and you automatically think gay, it could be a women witht he razor, although even id struggle to trust a bird with a razor in one hand and my nuts in the other.

Anyway i've just looked it up and apparently its a documantry about parody porn films.

The Deer Hunter was good (way back when). That scene where the gooks are playing Russian roulette with the captives - great performance and just bags of tension - you wanna get up there and slap a few of'em about.

Love the part in the film Platoon....The helicopter has just taken of from rescuing Sheen and the rest of the Platoon, Sheen thinks his platoon leader Willam Dafoe has been betrayed, they get airborne and Sheen looks down only to see william Dafoe emerging out of the jungle shot to phuk, arms raised to the heavens in desperation seeing the chopper pulling ever upwards and away, Dafoe is being chased by hords of North Viet Cong shooting the hell out of him, splats of blood everywhere, the intensity of the moment, you can feel the betrayal and hopelessness of it all.

To top it all in the background the music to this part of the film is William Orbits, Barber's Adagio for strings, utterly breathtaking.
