Strange descision, they should have just got rid of him in the summer if they didn't think he was up to it.

He has done reasonably well for a newley promoted team.

I had a look at that this morning as their were rumours that Hughton would be sacked, he was 9/2 this morning, he's not dropped much now, only 7/2.

Maybe Curbishley could be in with a chance.

They've been waiting for for a few bad results to get rid of him, never a big enough name for Newcastle.He's done a brilliant job, but my guess is that Ashley will be making money available to the new man (O'Neill IMO) and if he's going to do that then it gives teh new bloke 3 weeks to assess the squad before the transfer window opens.So while it's a harsh decision to sack him, I don't think the timing of it is that crazy.
