West Ham v Aston Villa
is likely to sell out, according to the OS.
Looking forward to this with a bit of trepidation to be honest. We need a decent start to the season, our friendlies have been a bit dire, but we won every single per season game under Avram, then look what happened.

Don't think our defence has quite clicked just yet, so we might be vulnerably at the back.

One all me thinks. Allardyce will have the Hammers workmanlike rather than stylish and we can only be better than last season.

A bit of an unknown quantity for both sides, I think.

Gold gone and done it with his famous predictions again
West Ham aren't aiming just to stay up, but they expect mid table, easy done then, kiss of death

Definitely a game Big Sam would have targeted a win from, but I'll be happy with a point. This is a poor Villa side but with a new manager I reckon they'll have a bit of a honeymoon start to the season.

Easy 3 points against a shocking Villa side. Cruised through the match in second gear really. Good performances from Collins, Diame, and Cole.

Gawd, it was 'ot. I think we just deserved the win, on balance. Well done to the Villans, took your full allocation, I think.

I haven't seen any of it yet only listened to it first on local radio so that was biased and then Soccer Saturday. Basic gist being we were tidy enough but didn't create anything. Goal was apparently dubious according to Phil Thompson but some you get some you don't. Obviously an opening day defeat isn't welcome but it isn't the end of the world either. Four players making their Villa and Prem debuts so hopefully they'll improve. Well done Hammers on the win.

Wasn't dubious, linesman thought Collins had flicked the ball to Vaz Te who was in an offside position but the ref correctly spotted the flick was off of Clark's head.

I need to watch MotD to see the dubious looking challenge on Carlton towards the end of the first half.

After replays they said the goal was a flick on by Clark so onside and the challenge was good on Cole..
