England... Empty Re: England...

The journalists/TV commentators like to have a little dig at Hodgson whenever they can e.g. last night the commentator spoke about Ukraine coach Blokhin having been Euro player-of-the-year, when the competition was Cruyff and Beckenbauer then joked about Hodgson's relative lack of football capability with a comment along the lines of "not many winners of the Euro player-of-the-year from players in the (whatever-it-was league that Hodgson played in) titter, titter". They've done the "Woy" thing, they look for occasions to take the p!ss, next there'll be blaming him for England's lack of talent.
I dunno, silk purses and sows ears should be taken into consideration IMO. Hodgson does have the prospect of some new talent coming through, including a hopefully fit-again Wilshere in the not-too-distant future and things might develop over time but to expect England to be a dominant force (or truly merit their ridiculous third place in the FIFA rankings) with what's available now is absurd - Hodgson can't be blamed for having to play Fat Frank, Gerrard, John Terry et al - that's what he's got right now!

Did you see the game???? Perfectly good goal from Defoe ruled out, two sitters missed by Cleverley, another by Welbeck. Their goal was an absolute worldy and in the main we played good football. All this with at least 12 of the first choice squad missing. Fcuk what the London rags say, they never wanted Hodgson

I feel a bit sorry for Roy. He's a good man, and a good manager but it won't be long before the papers are on his case. You can't polish a turd and I'm afraid to say he's got plenty of turds that he has to pick from. When was the last time Rooney had a good game for England? Carrol - do me a favour. Terry/ Walcott etc. turds

Carroll was superb in the Euros, and as much as i dislike them as people so were Terry and Cole. Don't be a sheep make your own mind up

Beds Come on QB, think about what you've said there. He wasn't superb, his performance was decent against below average teams. Terry defends well when we sit back, if we try and push forward he gets mugged for pace every time. He isn't the future for England.

Depends what our expectations are... if it's competing with the likes of Ukraine Poland Sweden etc then we are there or there abouts..

If its Spain Germany Italy etc then we are miles away IMO.. no Semi Final appearance in the last seven tournaments which involved our so called golden generation shows how much work we have to do..

Another day we could have had 5. The amount of players missing, it was always going to be a tricky game. We won't win the World Cup, but we'll be there.
