The goal was down to Gerrard and Parker. 8 players in the box and not one of them decided to close the ball down. Not a bad performance defensively but lifeless upfront. We miss Rooney.

I thought Hart could have done a bit better with the goal, but was slightly unsighted. We took the lead, then defended too deep IMHO and let France back into it. Was disappointed with Ashley Young, who after a bright start, was anonymous. I actually thought Wellbeck did a decent job for the team, villainies will no doubt have been bashing one out watching him. Thought Parker played well and all in all a decent performance.

I thought it was a decent performance..the golden generation couldn't keep the ball so to expect a lot of ball retention is expecting too much..

France are a good team and we coped with them pretty well..

Young i would prefer on the wing.. he isn't good enough to be the link man in the middle..

The written press are a joke.. don't know what there expecting from a young team.. deluded!

A large portion of the media positively want us to fail so they can savage Hodgson, who wasn't their chosen one. Just another reason for wanting us to do well, in my opinion.

Think Hodgson has been nothing but class and grace since taking the role in the face of some really spiteful journalism. Saw a report on Hodgson's first three games somewhere I'll try and dig it out, but an opposition striker hasn't had more than 3 seconds in possession in England's penalty area since he took over.

I firmly believe Hodgson is the right man for the job. That opinion won't change even if we lose the next two games. Spain won the World Cup despite only scoring 8 goals all tournament. Hodgson has in a very short space of time made us hard to beat and that is a great foundation to build on.

Rooney will make a world of difference. Wilshere when fit Parker and Gerrard isn't exactly a midfield of mugs. Put Walcott (Adam Johnson if he starts playing regularly) and Young either side of Rooney and I'd say that's a very good team to go into the World Cup qualifiers with. Remember we've got a piss easy group to gel the team with too.

The likes of Jones, Chamberlain, Smalling, Welbeck etc will all have a couple of seasons more experience behind them too.
