Cole, Terry and Gerrard proved tonight why it was right to pick the best players for this tournament. All of them superb. Terry has changed my mind

Agreed. Performed like a proper captain and has wound the clock back five years

Re: England line ups
Gerrard has been nothing but perfect. shut down Pirlo, and we can beat the Italians. But the Germans await in the Semis...

I thought Ukraine created much more opportunities then they should have. Extremly happy that we have avoided the Spanish.
Still think we shouldn't play 4-4-2. Leaves us light in the middle esp as we can't keep the ball for long periods.
Gerrard has been great. Lead by example. The defence has done well in last ditch situations but worried about the amount of chances being created by other teams against us.
Rooney was shocking. Game time is no excuse. His passing at times was awful.
We can beat the Italians but will have to start with Caroll I think to that.
As for zee Germans.. Come on Greece

How we won last night I'll never know. We were pretty poor but still managed a win. I'm glad Rooney got a game as I think we need him but his overall performance was shoddy. Hopefully Roy will get them more focussed for the QF. We can win that but we will have to win the ball back better and work harder when we have it.

Gerrard has been very good so far, but best player IMHO has been Lescott, superb
Milner, Young and to a lesser extent Scott Parker have been massive disappointments so far

Re: England line ups
Not sure how Parker has been disappointing, he hasn't been brilliant but quietly effective sitting very deep and letting Gerrard do his stuff knowing he's got insurance behind him. Think Milner has worked hard but just lacks that final quality, Young has been anonymous and Terry has made a couple of mistakes too. Johnson and Lescott have been surprising for me, excellent in all 3 games. Welbeck isn't quite up to standard yet but works his socks off, I'd start Carroll over him on Sunday though.

How we kept the Ukraine from scoring is a bloody miracle...

If only it was Rooney out injured and not Wilkshire.. wouldn't have any dilemma and could play
4-5-1 without trying to fit Rooney in..

Rooney is our best player by a country mile. Ask the Italians whether they'd want to face Rooney or Wilshere..

No I dont think he is. We seem to rely on him to much when he is on the pitch... We are a better balanced team without him.... In fact I reckon Ian Bell is better than him

We rely on him, because he's our best player. If the ball came into the 18 yard box, who would you rather have on the end of it? Welbeck, Carroll, or a player with 150 career goals at the age of 26, and 70 matches of international football behind him?

On yesterdays performance any of the above.... Its not good to rely on one player overly.. Did you ever notice as soon as Crouch was playing we just resorted to banging high balls in the hope he would get to them ??? We are like that with Rooney... Every ball is aimed at him and it is easier to defend against him... When he plays for ManUer there are other players who are often targeted so the defenders get stretched and he is able to play more... Its why he doesnt score so many goals at international level

Ades, have you taken up alcohol?
Jesus, I think Parker has worked hard, but then again so has Milner. It doesnt mean they have done well. Just a personal opinion of course

I'd say 30 in 75 caps is a pretty good record. Would play Carroll next to him though, Welbeck needs a couple more seasons to learn his game whereas Carroll knows exactly what to do. We retain possession better with him holding the ball up too.
