Re: Wn required!
So we scraped the three points against QPR - now we have to do the same at the Boleyn, eh? Come on Arsenal!

And we did it again, although we'd have had a few more but for their keeper (not the first time the Hammers have thwarted us through an excellent goalkeeping performance) - still 2-1 was good enough and another three points in the bag. Now, to Southampton - a win at St.Mary's will do very nicely - come on Arsenal!

Another tough game at Southampton.
Hopefully we should start to see some of our walking wounded returning soon.
It would be terrific to get a result there.

Re: Wn required!
Well, we had our first choice defence out, we were short of choice in midfield and attack but I thought we'd get the job done. Perhaps we would have had our keeper not decided to play like a lemon. Overall we had more possession, as many shots on target as Southampton, we won more corners (we committed less fouls) so a draw might have been a reasonable result but no, it was yet another shoot-yourself-in-the-foot starring Szczesny, ably supported by hesitant defending.
By Christ we really do do things the hard way at Arsenal - still, it was ever thus - FA Cup on Sunday anyone?

And a better overall performance - excellent from Alexis (as always) and a very good shift from Santi - I thought Le Coq looked good too.
Next up, Stoke. Welcome Stoke, i trust we'll murder you - come on Arsenal!

Re: Wn required!
A solid performance, a good win although we should've scored more. Their keeper played well, stopping three or four shots but, then again that's his job. Theo should've netted when put through (rather than missing the target completely) and The Ox could've done better with a couple of strikes although he played well - they all did, including Le Coq (again).
The Debuchy injury aside I'm hoping we'll have a decent choice of players for our visit to Manchester next week - three points against Citeh would be very nice!

A solid performance, indeed. Coquelin is playing very well and looking a much better option than either of Flamini or Arteta.
Sanchez? Well, what can one say? Everything you could ever want from a player in your team. Honest endeavour mixed with great quality. A tremendous acquisition!!!!!

Alexis Sanchez is a genius. And, because he's so good I'm already seeing snide remarks such as "He doesn't look good against the top sides" plus this, a real gem "Sanchez isn't that good, if he was at Chelsea you wouldn't notice him so much, it's just that at Arsenal the players around him are hopeless". That's got to come from a Chelski fan - they really have no idea!

Well, the "players around Sanchez" were anything but hopeless today - what an excellent team performance from top to bottom. Two stand-outs for me, the no.1 being Santi Cazorla - brilliant in skill and work-rate and no.2 Le Coq - really put himself about in a dominant role in front of the back four. But, as I say it was, more than anything a team performance - they all shone and that's a very tidy three points in the bag!

Re: Wn required!
Great performance!!! Apart from the 5 minutes or so after half time, when we seemed intent on pushing up too much.
We reined that in and settled down again. Cazorla was outstanding as was Coquelin but as you say, jpr, it really was a fantastic, controlled, TEAM performance. For once the tactics were spot on!!!! On that form we can beat anybody.

A good win for the Arse. When a team like Man City are off their game, as they have been lately, you have to try to take the opportunity to get a result.

Re: Wn required!
I said "lately". Going back 11 games isn't lately.
If you take the previous 4 games for Man City:
Everton 1-1 Man City (Poor result for them - they should be beating the likes of Everton)
Man City 2-1 Sheff Wed (Just scraped past a Championship club, at home)
Man City 3-2 Sunderland (Just scraped past a bottom 6 club, at home)
Man City 2-2 Burnley (Couldn't beat a bottom 6 club, at home)
They are not in good form at the moment.
As I said, fair play to Arsenal for taking their opportunity of beating them whilst Man City are currently off their game. Those 3 points will be a bonus at the end of the season.

Re: Wn required!
If The Arsenal hadn't beaten them they would be 2 points off the lead. The Arsenal did the business against one of the top two teams in the land and the current Champions. They were made to look poor by a VERY good performance from a good Arsenal side, who, for once, had their tactics dead right.

Yes, they are one of the top two teams - but not on current form. The game came at the right time for Arsenal and they took full advantage of it. That's what you've got to do to beat better teams than yourselves. I'm not taking anything away from the Arse. They were the better team on the day.

As long as you're taking nothing away from The Arsenal.
I fully expect you to come out as an Arsenal fan in the not too distant future.

Brighton tomorrow in the cup. My nephew (also a Gooner) who lives in Hove reckons it'll be a walkover but my memory is long enough to remember losing to the buggers in the cup (many years ago, I think it was Jim Furnell's last game in goal for The Arsenal) - still, yes, we should have enough to win. The return of Ozil and, perhaps Walcott plus some tweaking in defence (?), I dunno, but we've gotta do the job. Come on Arsenal!

Ooops! My mistake. Jim Furnell's exit was after a poor game against Birmingham in the cup. Sorry Tilts - Birmingham, Brighton - hey what's the difference (aside from a couple of hundred miles, an unpleasant accent and a certain level of homosexuality, eh)?
Still, Come On Arsenal!

After today's results, this is a big game for us.
Fingers Furnell...................that's jogged the old memory cells.
