Need to sign some fecking players.

RL, PF and PL had a meeting today to discuss transfers apparently.

Looking at the rumours, we're looking at Kevin Doyle.

Other names in the rumour mill are Charlie Adam, Michael Dawson, and even Daniel Sturridge.

Thoughts?

Left back is urgently required, seems like it is the Blackburn or Ipswich lad.

Would love Dawson, but fee and wages mean that is not going to happen. Cant see Chelsea letting Sturridge out on loan unless they get at least one more forward in, who would play up front if Torres was injured? Not a great fan of Adam, but is better than what we have got. Think we will get a striker in, big centre forward in the Kenwyne Jones mould. Think Doyle is a fair player, but cant see him being the answer

Last season McLeish got a load of shit because he claimed he did well to keep us in the league, this season Lambert has brought in 3 of his own players plus Holman, and we have only lost Heskey and Cueller.

Apparently we now need three players at least to stop up, I agree we need at least three players.

Was McLeish harshly treated? Shocked

Jakes nursery tweeted we have bid for a Striker based abroad.. Believed to be Christian Benteke.. Belgian.. Scored against Holland last friendly..

Sky Sports saying we after Charlton midfielder Dale Stephens..

Nursery also tweeted we won't buy anyone over 6M..

Think we will get three players in by Friday..

Best we will get is loan deals for them two..

Bennett seems to be our no.1 target for LB..

Kenwyn Jones and Lambert from Southampton linked today.. seem like back ups for the Bentke deal..

Hopefully we will get a midfielder in too..

Signed that Bennet lad then.

BBC must be really interested in our transfer activities, they not even reported the Bennet story despite it being on the OS so confirmed, but have a story about us signing some striker from Chesterfield, who I can only imagine will go straight into the reserves as one for the future.

Just after writing that and the newsnow site is now saying Bentke deal off and we looking at Zarate.. The one that was at Blues..

Stoke have made a £5m bid for Charlie Adam. Given our weak midfield I wouldn't mind us putting in a bid at that price.

Grant Holt, Hoolahan, Ruddy, Surman, Johnson, Pilkington, Marc Tierney, Ryan and Elliott Bennett..

Most of these players weren't heard off but Lambert managed to gel and perform to a level that got them promoted and more importantly stay in the Premier league comfortably..

So when he buys the likes of Lowton and Bennett you have a bit of confidence in his judgement.. even the Chesterfield lad for 500K that everybody is laughing about might turn out to be decent..

James Nursery has been tweeting about Villa all summer and has mainly been not too far off whats happening.. he is saying that we are looking to bring in 2 strikers and a defensive midfielder..

He didn't sign Holt or Hoolahan either. I'm all for getting young players in from the lower leagues but we need to balance it up with some proven talent. Our back four at Newcastle could well read

Lowton. Vlaar. Baker. Bennett

We're talking a back four with about 10 Prem appearances between them up against Cisse and Ba. We should imo be looking at splashing out on the likes of Dawson and securing the present rather than just the future.

10 goals in over 90 appearances I read. Doesn't fill you with confidence. Like I said, Lambert has never been in a relegation fight before. He doesn't seem to know what he needs to buy.

You lot need to chill out.

In Lambert we trust.

He knows what he needs to do. It's going to take time for him to build his own squad. He's still got MON, GH and McLeish's cast-offs. It's not a matter of one transfer window, it's going to take 2 or 3.

I didnt say sign i said he can spot a player who would do well in the top league..

I agree that we need someone like Dawson.. experienced good player.. but it seems we don't have the money to splash out on just one player..

So im happy that the man at the helm has at least got a decent track record in spotting a player who can play well in the Prem..

Agree about the defense.. it is vastly inexperienced.. Vlaar would normally need help in settling into a team in a new Country and yet he is the senior man.. will be interesting to see what devlops hey..

He's never been in a relegation fight before because he knows exactly who to buy.. he got promoted with Norwich and brought/kept the players that made them avoid a relegation fight.. so your statement is a bit stupid..

As for this kid.. most of those are as sub.. and also he isn't brought as our saviour but more like one to see what can develop if not then no great loss at 500k and min wages.. im pretty sure another striker will come in..

Also you don't end up in a relegation dog fight after two games.. let's see where we are after 10..
