We dont often buy expesnive strikers,

Lutes im quiet happy we are buying him.. seriosuly in he UK who else could we ave got..

Do think we will ony be paying it if Ash Young is on his way now or summer..

But fairplay to Lerner for digging deep!

Deffo seems to be true but all the prices are ranging from 10mill to 24mill on twitter

Must admit I wonder if Ashley Young may be on his way now, but if we get good money for him, let him go as does not seem that bothered. A left back in, though I feel Clark has some potential in that position and I reckon he will try and get a keeper in.

A goalscorer should make a huge difference to the team and should be some competition for places now. Think Gary Gardner may be coming into the equation in the near future as well if he is as good as people suggest. Fecking great to be a Villa fan

at last a real goalscorer, who cares about the fee, this would be a top signing, will score goals a plenty, move us up the table and make villa a more tempting move for other players as well.

I heard about this last week from a journo mate but he usually spouts bollocks like Ades and VFL.

Would be a top signing IMO and desperately needed but for me £15m is more like it. £18m is a bit toppy and £24m is way over the odds.

IMO it's way over the odds.However, it does prove that Mr Lerner still has the clubs interests at heart and Bent will be the first real goalscorer we've signed since Dion Dublin.As for Young going.....I've gotta to be honest i'd rather he signed a new deal and stayed, but IMO he's best deployed on the wing and i'm a fan of Downing.On the other flank we've seen the emergence of one of the most exciting young players to come through the ranks in years in Albrighton.As much as Young is a valuable asset i think we wouldn't miss him anywhere near as much as we've missed Barry and Milner in the recent past.Back to Bent, he's by no means a world beater but he has a welcome knack of scoring goals.This potential signing is very exciting and as fans we shouldn't really give a flying feck how much he costs.

Nothing two faced about me.Houllier will remain a 24 carat tnuc whoever he signs.What he did at Anfield is unforgivable.

Bent would be a top signing for us though QB as he gets goals. Should be some competition for places and certainly hope Downing aint going. Ashley Young does not seem keen to stay, so maybe he will need to be sold for big money.

As for the money, getting rid of Sidwell, Carew, Beye, Davies, Warnock and it seems Luke Young will save us 12 million a year.
