New season
Coming up - Chelsea in the Community Shield having warmed up with a nice couple of pre-season trophies won. I like what I've seen so far with some of the youngsters looking good and it's nice to have virtually everyone fit and ready - bring it on!

Re: New season
The world seems better, a warmer, happier place when The Arsenal wins and today we beat Chelsea. No more really needs to be said by me, except that I'm expecting great things this coming season. We are almost there - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
I reckon the top of the Prem is going to be very competitive this season. Man City, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and even Arsenal are all looking strong. It could be an interesting season.

Or "it's only Arsenal", if things fall apart for them as they usually do at some point in the season.

Re: New season
Arsenal will compete and then fall short as usual..
Simply because Arsene won't bring in a couple of players needed.. a CB and a top notch ST..

Re: New season
The Arsenal will compete alright - and if there's a player out there that will improve our squad and can be signed I have every confidence in Arsene Wenger to bring him in.........we'll see.

Re: New season
It'll be interesting to see who starts - same as the Community Shield or will Giroud get the nod - it's a tough decision to make but a good position to be in - bring it on!

5 minutes to go and the fans are heading for the exits. The Hammers are show boating, it's wonderful to see. Premiership challenge over in August?

Re: New season
Well there you go, the highs and lows of a football fan, right there in one week.
Last Sunday I was feeling that glow after we beat Chelsea, today I'm feeling shattered after losing to West Ham. That has got to go down as the shock of the weekend, in the Premier League anyway.
Just waiting for the feelings to resolve themselves, to form some sort of coherent thoughts so Villainies, your incoherent blurb is of no help whatsoever. Just feel good about being ahead of The Arsenal in the table - it won't be for long so gather joy whilst you may!

Re: New season
So, we made hard work of beating Palace but beat them we did - onward and upward! Santi & Mesut had particularly good games, a classic Giroud strike and a powerful leap from Alexis at the far post to score the second, off a defender's leg. Monreal had a good game in defense too - we just should have scored more goals but hey, three points and Liverpool next!

Lucky? Unlucky? Depends on which side your bread is buttered. Three points worked very hard for I'd say................

I'd like to see a strong performance against Liverpool, a strong performance plus some goals please! I'm anticipating an Alexis strike, amongst others - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
Well it certainly wasn't our best game but, I suspect for the neutral viewer it would've been a good'un. Mistakes (mostly ours) in the first half almost cost us a goal or two, mistakes (the linesman) prevented our recording a legit goal in the first half but overall it was end-to-end stuff and a draw was probably the right result. We need to improve, be more efficient (especially in front of goal) to make something of the dozens of chances created. Meanwhile I thought Le Coq, Gabriel and Cech played well, with Monreal not too far behind. More to come (I hope) from this team - Newcastle up next!

Re: New season
1-0 to The Arsenal is good enough but, as has been the case thus far this season we made hard work of it. Clearly Maclaren told his players to leave their foot in a bit, no doubt because Arsenal players don't like a tackle and in the early part of the game it was like playing against a 1970's Italian team - whenever something was on play was broken up with a foul. Fortunately the ref was up to his job and started dishing out warnings and cards early doors. Still, Alexis was dumped on his arse three times before a card came out, Monreal and Le Coq could've suffered serious injury with over-the-top challenges - all's well that ends well, though!
We've got a break now 'til Stoke come visiting in a couple of weeks - heal the wounds and hopefully we might have Wilshere and Welbeck challenging for places, not to mention the numerous new faces that will be joining us in the next couple of days, eh? EH? Oh.
