Re: New season
Well, I am surprised. We concede two poor goals and fail to score three, thus we lose the game. The chances were there but you just had the feeling it was to be one of "those" days. We lose Le Coq to what looks like a serious injury, then we lose his replacement, Arteta (to what looks like an all-too-regular injury), we miss an open goal (Campbell) and fail to keep our feet for a penalty (Santi) - it's The Arsenal Way. Lord knows what sort of a team we'll be putting out against Norwich next week (not to mention who'll be available for the midweek match against The Junkies). It's going to be a long, hard winter...........

Re: New season
We've got Aaron Ramsey back in the squad, probably The Ox too (although he won't start) so it's looking slightly better on the injury front. We have to get the points at Norwich, let's go out there and turn 'em over - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
Didn't really do the job, did we? Still, one point is an improvement on the zero we got against The Baggies but, had we won the two we'd be three points ahead of the rest. Early days, now to try and recover from injuries (Kos, Santi, Alexis plus the walking wounded that are Rosicky, Arteta, Le Coq, Wilshere and Welbeck) and hope that The Ox, Ramsey and Theo get back to full steam.
More to come from this squad though - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
So, the first challenge is to perform well against and beat Sunderland on Saturday. TBH I'd expect us to beat Sunderland so with players coming in, or back into the first eleven to cover those already injured, hoping to prove themselves, I'm looking for a top show - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
Top show it wasn't but we got the points, which was the main thing. Two well-taken goals and a scrappy one, another very good Mesut performance and it was good to see the Welsh Jesus getting stuck in bit hugely disappointing for The Ox - he really looks a shadow of his former self but he's been out a while so perhaps he'll turn it around (I hope so).
Next league match is up at Villa next Sunday - could be a tough'en but one we, again have to win. There's also a little matter of having to score a few in Greece on Wednesday night, to avoid the dreaded European Losers Cup!

If we top up in the Europey Cup, we should contrive to get knocked out at the first opportunity. Thursday night football is the kiss of death.

It's done the Spuds enough damage over the past few years.

Re: New season
Villa tomorrow then, let's hope the players have got hold of that warm feeling that winning brings and take it into the match. We could do with a resounding win, just to boost the goal difference and encourage those that can play to keep up the pressure for places in the team. Come on Arsenal, a win'll take us top and whilst it's early days it's just nice to be top-of-the-heap - let the others do the chasing for a change!

Of course Chelsea are so sh!te right now that they didn't do the business - still, we're above ManC and that's where we'll be when they arrive for the next match - and that's where we'll stay when the match is over - come on Arsenal!

Oh yes, I got it right and what a performance, eh? Three nice goals and whilst there might have been more, on both sides I think we did the business there. More to come from this Arsenal side - especially when Alexis is back (not to mention Le Coq and Santi, although that'll be further towards the end of the season, unfortunately) - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
But first it's Southampton in front of their, let's say "basic" fans. Although Southampton are going through a rough patch it will end sometime - let's hope that even if they recover some form we'll have too much for them. Come on Arsenal, this squad can overcome!

Re: New season
I suppose I knew it was coming, it's The Arsenal Way but we were well-and-truly awful last night. Right through the team, front to back awful. Was it fatigue? Is it the fact that we've played the same starting eleven in four matches now cos, in principle we aint got much choice? I don't know but we were crap. What niggled me most was the fact that we were bullied, in midfield and by that Irishman Shane Long. He's a wee fella but he plays the game old-school and he caught Koscielny out on more than one occasion. OK, it's not football but it's certainly part of the game and I've always liked a forward who has a go at defenders in much the same way that defenders have a dig at them. Long got away with it for his first goal, the ref/assistants didn't do their job for two others but that's just the way of the world, we were crap. The only way is up - there's a job to do on Bournemouth tomorrow, come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
That's more like it, a more typical Arsenal performance (i.e. Mesut Ozil genius; we should've scored five) and we are top of the league!
Nice to see that Le Boss felt confident enough to make some changes - The Ox did well, as did Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs, Gabriel was excellent in attack and defence - so, all in all a good day.
Looking forward to receiving Newcastle on Saturday - methinks we won't be putting in any more Saints-away performances, it's time to build - come on Arsenal!

Re: New season
We got the three points, otherwise that certainly wasn't the best performance! Not complaining, after all we are top of the league innit?!
Next up it's Liverpool away, before that Sunderland at home in Our (aka FA) Cup - come on Arsenal (and please, come back injured players, ASAP)!

Not exactly a title-winning performance but the draw maintains out top-spot for now. Must do better - Stoke next so it'll be another challenge - come on Arsenal, please!
